New Adventures!

Today was emotional. It was my last day with my sweet babies and my last day with my outstanding team. I was so fortunate to be given the opportunity to work with such outstanding teachers. They provided me so much wisdom, friendship, and support through the two years I spent there. I will miss them greatly.

BUUUUUUTTT...

I am excited to embark on this new adventure with Faithe and Madden. After much discussion and patience, we are moving to South Carolina! Closer to Faithe's business and his family. I am also happy to say that I have gotten a SECOND grade position at an AWESOME school! I have been so excited about preparing and planning for my new job. But seriously, help! I'm so new to the 2nd grade Common Core! I have been researching and shopping like crazy on Teachers Pay Teachers! Anyone have any words of wisdom? Awesome downloads? I am ready for it!

MATH FLIP BOOKS!!!

I am so excited to share these with ya'll!! My sweet kinders did so great with these! I originally made them with a construction paper flip-book where the kids had to cut out the headers and glue them on the front of the book, but decided it was way easier to print the book with the headers already typed on (hence what you see on the TPT copy).

My higher kinders were able to do these in their heads, but they still had to write their answers by each equation before cutting and gluing them into the flip-book.

Some of my kinders wanted a piece of paper to draw out their work for help. This little boy loves to draw out every math problem, even if he can do it in his head!

My lower kinders grabbed a handful of buttons and used them as manipulatives to help them add. This little guy knocked them out of the park!

Since the Common Core only asks for adding and subtracting within 10, there are only so many equations you can do. This pack has 3 flip-books, with equations for each, inside. Two are addition and one is subtraction. I hope you can find a use for them in your kinder-class!

Surveys

So, my kiddos have been taking surveys in the classroom. When we first started them, I gave them premade surveys with the question given and then they walked around and asked all of their friends and filled in the graph. We did pictographs-- which was super cute seeing the little tiny friend's face drawn instead of shading in a box. Check out these TPT surveys/graphs from Create S'more for free!!

This week, we are making our own surveys! My kids are loving it! I couldn't find a good format for my kinder-friends, so I made my own. Feel free to use it with your sweeties!

They write their question at the top and then their TWO choices in the smaller boxes. They go around and ask their friends and record the friend's name in the right column. I'm going to add a third box for my higher friends to really mix it up ;)

Winding down!

The year is winding down and I am getting so sad. I am really going to miss some of my Kinder-babies! They are so grown up now. I love that when I read a book, they are all trying to make connections and predictions.

We have a very busy few weeks coming up, but they are definitely the most fun! Right now we are studying plants and made some paper greenhouses to plant lima bean seeds in the window. Tomorrow, for Earth Day, we are planting posies! The kids were so excited to paint their flower pots!

Next week we will be studying insects and there are some awesome TPT resources for you!

Weather!!

We are currently studying weather and the how it changes from season to season. My kids made these little flip books that I had to show off!

This is me....

In the snow!

In the sun...

In the wind (love her expression!)

In the rain... Which she clearly doesn't enjoy!

It was funny, because my new principal came in and asked a little boy if this was math or science. Of course, he said that he didn't know. I love Kindergartners :)

So so long...

Hello loves,
It has been so long since I have written. I finally feel like I have the time and energy to come back to blogging. Life has been so busy, full of ups and downs. Spending time with Madden after work has been my number one priority. It has been so hard to find the work/personal life balance since becoming a mommy.
I have tried to keep up with so many of your wonderful blogs, and enjoy the excitement in your classrooms! I did so mostly through Pinterest-- I mean who doesn't ?! I am currently stewing some new projects in my brain, in hopes of turning them into real PDFs. One thing at a time though :)

Check out this cutie!! (not me, him)
